Arduino not outputting power from pins

Hi,

I am a complete begginer when it comes to arduino's. I purchased a kit to see if it would interest me but almost instantly i have ran into an issue. I have been able to create a couple of really basic circuits such as making an LED blink. Come the next day and i cannot get anything to work although i have done nothing different.

I have purchased a new arduino, i have tried different cables, buttons, new capacitors and ive also tried a new breadboard with no luck,

I have attched an image of how i have everything plugged in. Knowing me its something silly but seems as i have tried swapping out literally every component im lost.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

You have no wire going to any input or output pins, only power and ground. So the Arduino is not going to control anything.

Hi,

This is exactly how i got it working last time, the arduino isnt actually suppose to be controling anything its just there to provide power so that when the button is pressed, the light comes on, however nothing happens,

I can't tell from the picture, but it appears the flat side of the LED may be facing the switch. That is typically the cathode and should be connected to ground.

Those tactile buttons do not always sit well in those project boards. Does it feel loose when you touch it? Use another jumper to bridge across the button and see if the LED comes on.

Hi,

Perehama was totally correct, i never even thought of trying something as simple as that, knew it was going to be a silly mistake,

Thanks guys for your reply's
