Arduino on Windows 7 starter (SOLVED)

Hello people ! I'm very disappointed because I can't install arduino software on my Asus EE PC running windows 7 starter :frowning: It doesn't start ! when clicking on arduino icon appears the splash screen and remains two minutes and the it crashes... I suspect could be a java problem but I don't really know. I also tried versions 023,022,021 and 020 but nothing ...

In you opinion, arduino schetch must start anyway also if serial usb driver is not installed yet? or this could be the reason ? Can anyone help me ? Thank you a lot

Install linux

Doesn't have the 'starter' abomination have some weird limitations (like 1GB max RAM...). Maybe that's biting you.

before abandon, I would like to know how many people are using windows 7 started running Arduino ... I can't believe nothing use windows 7 started. I have 2 GB ram

Please, anyone use Windows 7 started ?

thanks a lot

well well well, good news from here. I've reinstalled windows 7 starter on my notebook and arduino software last version WORKS FINE !!!! I think the reason for malfunctioning could be and application running that generate conflict or some windows/ Java upgrade that blocks arduino. I will try to discover the exactly reason, next year

bye bye

Ah yes... the typical winblows solution to everything: reinstall the OS!

I wonder why people put up with it.

I wonder why people put up with it.

Probably becaue they liked the alternatives less.

If you have Arduino version 1.0, some libraries doesn't work at all, like LCD4bit LCD4Bit_mod.
I use a keypad shield liquid crystal display and it requires those old libraries.
not compatible with v1.0; programs only compile with an ancient version: v22 or v23. :%

Maybe, I'd never use a MAC at home  In some aspects that company is worse than Micro$oft.

I hate to say, but in this (your) case winblows is surely not to blame. Was that a question btw?

Edison: it's not always true. My netbook was plenty of applications installed in about one year. The problem could be some driver conflict (I read on the web that logitec drivers may cause problems, but it's not my matter) or some daily Java upgrade :frowning: For me, reinstalling OS from original image was faster than discovered the reason of conflicts. I'm sure that also linux or OSX may have something disturbing issue if you aren't so lucky  I have also OSX10.5 running on G5 and arduino works fine but I needed a lot of time to setup the serial port.

To all Windows haters  I don't like windows at all but, imo, it's not a good praxis to declare windows as the guilty before understand the reason of any problem !!!
