Yes if it's a regulated +5vdc voltage source you can wire it to the USB connector using the correct power and ground pins on the connector. However the amount of current actually being drawn by the arduino board depends on what you wire to the board. The Uno board will only draw around 50ma from the USB voltage source if it has nothing wired to the board. A thermofuse on the arduino board will prevent attempting to draw more then 500ma from the USB connector.
