This is my first time using an Arduino, and I am trying to program something for school. I plugged it into my computer, downloaded the Arduino IDE, and it said no port. I checked the tools > ports, and the ports button was greyed out. Then I checked device manager, and saw that the green light was glowing on the Pro Micro, but wasn't connected to the PC. I don't even hear a beep from windows whenever I insert the USB. Does anyone know what's happening? I heard something about needing to install drivers, but I can't do that since my PC doesn't do anything whenever I plug in the USB. Please, any bit of information you can give me would be great, and I am absolutely not an expert on this stuff.
Welcome to the forum.
The Pro Micro is not an genuine Arduino board.
Perhaps it has a wrong bootloader. Can you give a link to where you bought it or make a photo of it ?
Where did you download the Arduino IDE from ? Version 2.2.1 from this site ? https://www.arduino.cc/en/software
Can you try another computer ?
The Pro Micro uses a microUSB connector / cable; microUSB cables come in two flavours, charge only and data/sync. You need the latter one.
