Arduino Pro Mini upload error

Hi,

I have problems trying to upload a program in an Arduino Pro Mini 5V / 16MHz. I spent quite some time looking through the forums and didn't manage to get it resolved, hopefully someone can help me

I tried to upload several times and it always fail a the exact same point. The "Vtarget : 0.0V" doesn't look right to me

I am using a Sparkfun FT232 breakout board; I soldered the jumper on the breakout board to switch from 3.3V to 5V. I connected the Arduino Mini to the FT232R as mentioned in this topic : Arduino Forum

FT232R breakout --> Arduino Pro Mini 5V:
GND     --> BLK
CTS      --> GND
VCC     --> VCC
RX-I      --> TXO
TX-O     --> RXI
DTR      --> GRN

Any idea what I did wrong ?

It may not be anything you did wrong. I can think of 2 possibilities (there could be more, of course)

Your bootloader has been overwritten. To fix you will need to put a new bootloader onto it.
Someone put an optiboot bootloader onto it. The optiboot will not respond to the same up-load protocol as the older bootloaders. Try changing the board type to Arduino UNO or Arduino Mini w/ATmega328.

I tried changing the board type to UNO and Arduino Mini, this time it fails straight away: no reply at all from the Arduino. I tried to change the baud rate in the avrdude command line parameters, the only that gives any result is 57600 (result as showed in my original post).

Unfortunately I do not have any ISP or other Arduino to upload a new bootloader. I think I will buy a cheap one from ebay and see how it goes (like this one : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-AVRISP-mkII-mk2-clone-ATMEL-AVR-New-/150584815125?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item230f8dee15)

The board is brand new, I'd be pretty unlucky if it has the wrong bootloader in it or if it's corrupted

FT232R breakout --> Arduino Pro Mini 5V:
GND --> BLK
CTS --> GND
VCC --> VCC
RX-I --> TXO
TX-O --> RXI
DTR --> GRN

DTR -> GRN? DTR needs to goto RESET through a 0.1uF capacitor (for the auto reset).

GRN is the DTR input and goes through a 0.1uF cap to reset.
