If your programmer is a 168 you have room for secondary functions, these are mostly just leftovers from development but some are useful. You access these by connecting to the serial port of the programmer and typing two letter commands, all of which begin with an asterisk.

You imply that you want to use the additional commands in that ISP programmer to do seething like changing the fuses, but i suspect understand what this ISP programmer is used for, as you have posted to the programming section, which is a forum about programming languages not uploading data to the device
