Hi, this is my first blog post, so excuse me if the question might sound silly. After having had years of fun with arduino r3s, I bought the r4 wifi. Although the bulk of the features are great, I have concerns about the drop in milliamps that can be provided by individual pins. I was wondering if it was still able to provide current for a passive buzzer, or if I risk frying an I/O pin using one.
I told you it was a silly question, but I really do not want to break my brand new toy!
Thank you in advance, and merry christmas (in advance as well)!
With the Uno R4, avoid exceeding 4 mA current (source or sink) on any I/O pin and you will be fine.
That probably means you cannot power a buzzer directly from a pin. Powering any inductive component from an I/O pin is out of the question.
Too bad. I guess a few beginners will have bad surprises given the number of tutorials based on Unos R3…
Thank you for your prompt answer anyway !
19.2 mA at 5 volt.
