Arduino + Relay Explanation

Hello!

I have read all this tread but as I'm "first time" trying and I dont want to explode my arduino, I have a few doubts about using the right components.

So, for any A/C (110v) you connected to arduino - to control on/off - you need to know its power comsumption or amperage, voltage...
in my case its an lcd monitor.

  • Power consumption Operation power consumption:90 W;
  • Voltage: 110V;

I'd like to be able to turn it on and off through Arduino. I understand that I may use the same 1A SSR as for lighting a 60W lamp.

Else,
I've read about the SSR and I understand that its an opto-isolator(?).
It means, when arduino shuts down, also the relay will turn off the A/C device? Isnt there any relay that keeps its state (on or off) regardless of being connected to arduino/power supply?

Thanks!
Btp~
