Arduino RFID RDX-B?

I'm looking to make an Arduino RFId reader for reading animal tags that are FDX. The best IC I've found for reading tags is theTMS3705, however this tag does not support FDX only HDX. Will I still be able to read a FDX tag? (I don't need to write to it)
