Arduino RGB sound channels

First off sorry if there is a similar post else where but i couldn't find it. what i wish to do is get 3 filters(high/mid/low) and get there values so that the lows controlled the Red , mids Green, and highs Blue. i wanted to make something a bit different than just inputting it in as one and using the overall amplitude to control the color's. what i wish to know is what type of circuits i should use for the filters. i have googled but it always gives me formulas and well i never learned how to properly use them. any help in this would be nice such as if this would work well or what you think about it. in the end i would be happy to post the schematics and code i used to help anyone else who is looking for something similar

Way back in 1983 I did something similar only using four channels.

It is on the web (although illegally) at:- http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/themicrouser/bodybuilding/01-10/01-10.htm

Texas instruments has some software that will help you design active analog filters.
