Arduino Sense ME ERROR connecting DP: Cannot read IDR

Hello,
I am using an Arduino sense ME to build a motion analysis program for a school project, and recently ran into an error uploading sketches to my board. When the sketch finishes compiling and attempts to upload I get the error: "Error connecting DP: Cannot read IDR." It also says, serial port not present or board not connected" In the bottom right of IDE my board and accurate COM port are displayed and I am able to get board info out of tools menu.

Initially I installed IDE 2.0 (9.2) and was able to connect and upload sketches to my board, but sometime in the last few days of not working on my project I no longer can upload. My board is still running the old sketch I uploaded a few days/week ago and is presenting data over BLE when powered on.

  • I have attempted to use the example blink_nicla sketch to upload instead of my own, it doesn't seem to matter what I try to upload to the board.

  • I have used bootloader mode ( 2 presses on reset button ), to which I receive a constantly red flashing LED the same speed as the initial green flashing LED. No change in ability to upload files but the board is no longer present on BLE network while in bootloader mode. Old file starts back up when reset back to normal operation.

  • I have also uninstall/reinstall IDE 2.0, update to latest version 9.3, downgrade to IDE 1.8.19, use 3 different cables, change com ports in device manager, reset computer, update windows, uninstall reinstall device drivers, and more with no success.

  • I got access to a second computer, installed Arduino IDE 1.8.19 and all associated files to run the blink example and got the exact same errors with a different computer.

  • I have an Arduino Uno that I am able to upload sketches to without any problem on either of my computers.

  • My last test, I attempted to perform the "loop-back" test. I followed the procedure numerous times and am unable to get my board to "echo" any of my inputs into the serial monitor.

So based on the loop back test, I have a problem somewhere within my host computer, hardware driver, USB cable, and USB to serial converter. I do not know where to go from here. Is there anyone that has any ideas? I am waiting on response from Arduino Support also.

Note:

I recently traveled with the board in my backpack between the time that it was working and now where it is not working. I don't believe I could have damaged it, but maybe?

This nicla sense ME is really hard to handle, I have not always properly grounded myself when touching. Could I have fried the board from static? I have never connected any wires except usb micro until doing the loop-back test.

I purchased this board through Arduino Store July 12th, I have only used it a few times.

Hello to all,

I received response from Arduino Support. They are under the impression that the board is malfunctioning and they will help me resolve the issue. No further help is needed,

Thanks to all who read this!
Josh
