Than surely you found lots of suggestions, including some on this forum, as the topic comes up quite frequently.
The answers usually involve cameras and image processing, as there is no sensor that can tell you that "this is a piece of glass". However, conductivity sensors can distinguish metals from nonconductive materials.

Please do not duplicate your questions as doing so wastes the time and effort of the volunteers trying to help you as they are then answering the same thing in different places.
Please create one topic only for your question and choose the forum category carefully. If you have multiple questions about the same project then please ask your questions in the one topic as the answers to one question provide useful context for the others, and also you won’t have to keep explaining your project repeatedly.
Repeated duplicate posting could result in a temporary or permanent ban from the forum.

If you want to fake it (and you do), you could make a "color sorter" out of an Arduino, a color sensor, a few servos, a motor or two and some fabricated cardboard or metal channels.
Program your robot to tap on each item. Use the difference in sound to differentiate between different compositions.
