Arduino stepper motor project - help needed (willing to pay)

Hi there,

I am working on a project to replace the internals of an integrated BMW satellite navigation screen with an Android tablet. That bit of it is done, but as part of the gutting process I had to remove the board which controls the screens position - basically won't work without the LCD in place.

I pretty much need to re-create this

for my BMW nav screen housing.

As I say, I am happy to pay for assistance, or even a complete job.

All the best,

Dan

Seems to be working fine, what's the problem?

The problem is that that is not my screen. That is what I am looking to achieve with a similar BMW Z4 screen. My project, such as it is, is at this stage:

I have ordered an Arduino Uno, a Motorshield R3 and a small bipolar stepper motor to test with... but I am a little unsure where to begin.

I had hoped to re-use the original motor as it neatly fits into the side of the screen housing and the associated gearing, but that has 11 yellow wires coming out of it? So I don't know where to start with that. Assuming I will have to replace the motor, I don't know how to spec a replacement one. There seems to be a confusing myriad of information out there.

Whilst I don't have unlimited funds, I would be prepared to pay for assistance on this project.

All the best,

Dan

I would have thought:
a) stepper, or any other convenient motor, with limit switches to stop at either end of travel
b) limit switch on "open" could also trigger the power-up sequence
c) make sure the motor is disabled, else you won't be able to push the screen down!

if you still need help drop me a PM we can discuss rates
where are you based?
sounds like a UK accent, and steering wheel in the correct place too!

Thanks mmcp42, you have a PM.
