Arduino timeout while uploading / communicating with programmer

Hi, a week ago I was playing around with a Node MCU 0.9 board and everything worked fine in my IDE. However, once I switched my board back to Arduino Uno I could not longer upload my sketches. This is the message I get:

avrdude done.  Thank you.

An error occurred while uploading the sketch

Does anyone know what might be the problem, I suspect it has something to do with the board switch over and not changing a setting back.

Did you change the board type and check which Com port it is connected to ?
