arduino to help me know if my hdd is working

i wanted to try something new. I want to create a system where the arduino could send a signal to my lcd if it receives a reply from my hdd connected. if anyone could assist me with this would be great. i am novice

thank you

Too hard unless you just want to hear it spinning or measure the current it takes .

How much have You managed to achieve in making the Arduino communicate with the hdd?

i wanted to reformat the hdd using arduino and an lcd touch screen i had through commands like /N1 and others so just wanted to know how to acces these commands through arduion

That sounds completely impractical to me. What's wrong with using your PC which already has the software to do it and has the speed.

Or maybe use a RaspberryPi - for the same reasons.

I presume "hdd" means hard disk drive?

...R

That makes exactly no sense. :astonished:

Maybe attempt to explain it properly?

What is an "arduion"?
