Arduino to Virtual DJ or DJ Software

I am attempting to build an Arduino midi DJ controller. right now I am just testing to make sure that it is possible to communicate between the Arduino and a software like virtual DJ.

Using hairless MIDI serial bridge (http://projectgus.github.io/hairless-midiserial/), the messages are sent successfully to programs like Logic, but I can not figure out how to get a message to be mapped to Virtual DJ...

Any suggestions?

I've done something similar sending ascii chars over USB in vb . net then depending on which chars come through, your software can do anything. You can make it play a song, go to a next one, speed up or slow down the track. Roughly, there'd be 256 commands you can implement if you sent over bytes as hex chars. It would be easier to implement than USB MIDI.
