Arduino Uno as ISP

Hi,

I want to purchase the Ardino Uno(ATMEGA328 rev3(16U2)) board and wanted to use aurdino Uno as a ISP programmer. I Have gone through below site, they are telling Ardino IDE will not support for loading the 'blink.hex' file into external microcontroller, but it can be done through command prompt Avrdude.

http://pdp11.byethost12.com/AVR/ArduinoAsProgrammer.htm

My question is, wether Ardino IDE will supprot for my task or not, i.e. whether i can use the Ardino IDE for selecting the arduino UNO as ISP programmer and target board as my ATmega2560 . (I don't want to use command prompt avrdude mode).

Waiting for your kind reply,

Regards, Girish.

Yes.

But it’s an expensive way to do it. ISP programmers cost about $6.
