Arduino UNO board not detected in COM port

I have been working with Arduino to control my servo motors. I used 9 V battery to power the arduino board and also the USB. Everything was working fine, suddenly my COM stops recognizing the board. Is the board damaged or something? what should i do?

Is the board being detected by the computer at all?

To help it would be nice to have more information such as the type of board and OS combo you are using, and the USB to serial chip that is on the board.

Having similar problem... New to Arduino with a new Uno, ran the Example sketch "Blink" and the LED blinks. Went back to change the time it was lit and now I get an error code:

Arduino: 1.6.3 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Uno"

Sketch uses 1,030 bytes (3%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32,256 bytes. Global variables use 9 bytes (0%) of dynamic memory, leaving 2,039 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2,048 bytes. avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "/dev/cu.EV3-SerialPort-1": Resource busy ioctl("TIOCMGET"): Inappropriate ioctl for device Problem uploading to board. I tried going to the troubleshooting guide, but none of the hints worked. I tried all the ports listed and no changes. MacBook Pro running 10.9.5 and Ardiuno 1.6.3 with an Uno

I get the same results on a MacBook running 10.10.2 with the same Uno board. Thanks for any advice/help you can give me.

Sadly I do not have much experience with Macs. However, I might be wrong here, I do still think you are using the wrong port. Have a look at the following link.
