arduino uno dead?

I just tried connecting a sainsmart dual channel 5v realay board to my sainsmart arduino uno (the relay board was connected properly) then I connected the arduino and the orange and green light came on and stayed on! i tried uploading the code and the computer wouldn't recognise the arduino anymore i unplugged the relay board and both led's on the arduino were still on, i tried uploading blink and again it wasn't recognised, even on battery power nothing happens,

what happend?

I suspect the part where you say "the relay board was connected properly" isn't true.

(How did you connect it, exactly?)

the fact is that the arduino itself doesn't work anymore even after disconnecting the relay board! just an orange and green light that stay on

If you know this, why waste time asking about it here?

if you are not sure, then how about some diagnostic information. Start with your PC running and the Uno not connected. Then describe in as much detail as you can what happens when you try to get the Uno working.

What PC operatings sytem are you using?

I suspect some wrong connection on the relay shield. Even if the OP has connected everything correctly, the relay shield may be faulty and could have shorted out arduino. End result: need one more UNO, careful with that relay shield and make sure it's not shorting a second UNO.
