I have an Arduino UNO r3, it worked fine when I started but after a while the AMS1117 Chip suddenly started heating up af. I unplugged it once and replugged it thinking that would fix the issue. But when i came back the Arduino did not power on, but it worked fine when using the USB connector.
BEFORE THIS HAPPENED: I had an issue with a project I created when I was trying to upload I noticed that the board kept turning on and off also my LCD backlight was flashing like crazy when I grabbed the board i noticed that the chip 508F kept overheating and resetting the board when I unplugged the wires it worked perfectly fine (I was using USB then BTW). Later on I tried uploading by connection external and USB together at the same time 508F was a little warm then. After I uploaded the sketch and replugged the project back in this happened.
P.S. I hope that my board aint broken
P.P.S. Yup i have the original Arduino the only weird thing about it is that it is blue instead of green.

Where is the 508F chip? On the LCD?
If the board is resetting by itself, it could be too much current is being drawn, causing the 1117 to overheat and shutdown untils cools a little, then shutting down, cooling, etc.
With USB, the 5V regulator is not used.
508F chip is beside the USB connector on the Arduino board.
Yes i noticed this thats why i used the barrel connector and usb to upload and it worked fine but the lcd did not work. After that AMS1117 chip started overheating so i unplugged the project and even after i unplugged it, it still was overheating. I let it run for a while and after a solid 30 secounds it does not appear to want to work from the barrel jack. However when i plug the arduino via usb it works tottally fine. Did i fry a fuse?
