Can someone please propose a solution to this issue?

If you have an Uno, you need to select Tools > Board > Arduino Uno.

Thank you for your suggestion, Spycatcherk. Unfortunately the proposed fix did not work. Any other recommendations?
Thank you.

Did you try what I suggested?

Hi Pert and sypcatcher2k,

Yes, I tried what both of you recommended but, unfortunately, I still have the problem.

I built this arduino clone myself a year ago and it has worked very well until recently. I tried plugging the USB into different ports, i tried a different USB lead and I also tried a different computer with no good results.

The error I am getting now when I plug in the USB and try to open the serial monitor is "Error opening serial port 'COM3' (Port busy). I get this on two different computers. When I try to reload the sketch I get "Problem uploading to board."

For the first time I also got a Windows Security Alert when I plugged in the USB stating that Windows Defender Firewall has blocked some features on Open JDK Platform binary on all public and private networks. It gave me the opportunity to allow OpenJDK Platform binary to communicate on my home network. When I allowed access for this purpose it made no difference.

I do not recall making any changes to hardware or software. I experienced this same problem in the past but after unplugging and replugging the USB a few times the problem went away.

I hope this helps clarify better my situation. What are your thoughts?

Thank you in advance for any further assistance you can provide.
