Arduino UNO not being recognized by windows 10

I have found this topic several times over on this forum, but none seem to be similar to my situation. I have several Arduino Unos. About 6 or 7 were purchased at one time. I have another that I purchased a few years ago. The one I purchased a few years ago works fine. I have tried 3 of the new purchases so far to no avail.

They don't show up at all when I plug it into the computer. It lights up but its as if nothing is plugged into the USB. I tried different computers, different usb cables, checked ports under device manager, and its not listed. Its not even listed as an unknown USB device. All three of them have the same issue. I don't want to open any more to keep trying. The purchase is about a year old so its likely they will not be able to be returned. It does not have a CH340 USB controller. It has an ATmega16U2 USB controller. I cant imagine what the problem could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First thing to try is a USB 2.0 port or older computer.

Other issues could be bootloader related.

Both 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports have been tried. The microchip is a ATmega328PU and should be pre bootloaded. They are official Arduino Unos.

Might seem dumb, but are you using a full USB cable and not a charging one?

If you have one working board you could still try using it as an ISP to re-bootload the others.
It is a simple process.

A picture of a bad board would maybe useful too.

Yes, I have tried several. They all work on the one board that is working also.

What does Windows device manager say?

What does Windows device manager say?

Absolutely nothing. Not even an unknown device,, nothing under show hidden devices > ports other than "Intel active management technology and COM 5, or COM 1 depending what computer I am on. These are all there before and after the Arduino is plugged in.

I had the same issue. I plugged the USB into the computer first and then connected it to the Arduino and the computer recognized it. The order of connecting solved my issue.
