Arduino UNO not taking any code with picture

I pickup a few UNOs and can't get any of them to take any code. I have tried to Blinky code just to get started and it will not work. I have included a screen shot of the issue.
Googled everything and made sure it is all hook up right and it acts like it going to work.
Looks like I have a newer type board because it has 2 red leds and a small chip. One led stays on all the time and the other blinks fast 3 times then turns off for about .5 secs and flashes 3 times again.

Any help would be great because, as you can see I am a super new guy and am so lost
Thanks for the help,
Trell

For got to add, I am running Windows 8.1

Hi.
This is a very normal exception that comes with every newcomer. Did u install the IDE or downloaded the already compiled non-admin package??

I downloaded the IDE and let it install. Is it a driver issue that is causing the problems.

See that your UNO is showing up in Device Manager [ Ports (COM & LPT) ]
In the IDE, see that you've selected that COM# in Tools / Serial Port
and that under Board you have Arduino Uno chosen

Looks like everything shows in Device Manger correct and also in the Arduino software, everything looks good.

Which IDE are you using and which hardware? Some people have reported bugs with IDE 1.6.8.

Hourly build version is not for newcomers. I suggest start with 1.6.5 in the Previous Releases section of the download page.

Downloaded 1.6.5 and works perfect. Thanks for everyones help.

Congrats. Glad to help
