ARDUINO UNO NOT WORKING ON SOFTWARE

Hello I bought arduino uno and i started programing and it doesnt work.I have seen on the internet to go on device manager com&port... And to fix it,but arduino uno doesnt show to me on device manager so can you please help me,and im sorry for my bad english

which IDE you use
which Windows, Mac or Linux use
first start loading using Blink, and see if that works, is in the examples.
have you set the good COM
gimme more info

Im sorry i dont know what is IDE.I use windows 8.1.I tryed blink.I have only one COM

You will not see Arduino in the ports section of the device manager; you will see COM X where X is a number. To test, disconnect the Arduino and check the ports in the device manager (it might not show if there are no ports); next connect the Arduino and check again. You should see an additonal port listed.

The mistake I made yesterday when I got my Arduino is that I did not actively selected the port in the tools menu of the IDE. As a result it showed an error in the status screen of the IDE that it could not find COM 1. Maybe you made the same mistake? Select tools -> Port and click the appropriate port.

I have tried that(to disconnect)but i have listed one port and i disconnected arduino and i stayed so im clueless pls help me

Sometimes it helps to use a USB port on the back of your PC. USB ports on the front or top of a computer may not work so well.
Click on this link to see example of Device Manager should reveal Arduino COMx.
