The issue is the device drivers are not being recognized and paired with the device
Operating system is windows 8.0
What I did:
I downloaded and installed the 1.06 windows software
I plugged in the Arduino and found the "unknown device" in the device manager under other devices.
I manually searched for and found the device drivers folder.
(I cannot tell which one is .inf . I assume the file type of setup information are the folders that are being used but I cannot see the file extensions to be sure. )
The error message that appears is "Windows has found the file but cannot install" There appears to be a windows installer included with the downloaded files....dpinst-amd64 is the name and when executed it produces a windows driver installation wizard. The screens and prompts suggest that drivers were successfully installed but upon reboot and recheck of the device manager nothing has changed.
I did turn off windows signed driver requirement prior to all this and I did restart etc
So as it stands right now, I have no idea how to sort this out and the google only suggests disabling the driver signatures. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I did get the software downloaded and configured properly on my laptop running Fedora 20 and am having fun using the device. I would be nice to get this sorted out on my sons laptop running windows. thanks.
I don't have Windows 8, but I tested Windows 10 preview with Arduino.
For that, I downloaded the zip-file of Arduino 1.5.8 BETA and unzipped it in my home folder.
In the 'driver' folder is an executable for the drivers (a normal and a 64-bit version), they are signed drivers and installed without problem.
No more need to install separate drivers or use the Device Manager.
Mr Picklefish stated he found the unknown device. i recently received my Arduino Uno R3 and i have windows 8.1 but it does not even detect my Arduino device. is thi the same problem?
Good night, i recently bought my arduino board at the maker faire in rome, I made all teh installation process few minutes ago, and I am getting an error (code 10) when I install the USB driver (arduino uno.inf) I have install and unninstall the software, the driver, I changed the usb cable, I change the PC, and at this moment I can't communicate with the Board, I see the "L" and "ON" leds on, but Tx and RX no.
I had try with the old drivers, with the 1.5.9 Beta version drivers, I had choose the drivers manually, and at this moment I didn't reach a communication just an error message from windows saying (code 10) see the image attached.
I hope you can help me or in other way, What can I do to change the board? where do I have to go? because i bought it at the Maker Faire Arduino stand.
I have tried everything to fix this problem and I end up at the same place no matter what I do.. Windows begins to install the driver and shows the message, windows encountered a problem when installing this driver...then names the driver Arduino Uno and then states driver not found.
I have disabled digital signing, renamed drivers, imported custom drivers and certificates, imported the modem driver, renamed the modem driver all to no avail. I even upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1. I successfully installed it on my windows 7 desktop and my Fedora 20 laptop. all with no issues and no big deal!
What the heck is the problem?
His laptop is in physically bad shape, I might just introduce him to the Linux world for christmas, he he!! Just seems like I have uncovered a money pit in this arduino stuff.......I hear there is a red colored board available that is easier to use, I dunno. I really wanted this Arduino to inspire him and have found some Boe-Bot robots that are arduino compatible that I think he would be really excited about.
