Arduino Uno R3 / Windows 7 - PC don't see the board

Hello,
Today I bought my first Arduino (Uno R3), and after unpacking and connecting the board with my computer (Windows 7) with USB cable, the computer doesn't see the board in device manager - neither in COM ports nor in other devices, so I can't manually install the drivers. I installed Arduino software, but I can't choose proper COM port. I tried reinstalling software, reseting and reconnecting Arduino, turning off and on again the computer, but nothing helped. After connecting the board to computer the ON Led is on and L Led is blinking. Can you help me?

Your PC should detect "new hardware" (and that 'bumpy' sounds) and (try to) install drivers..
Before you do all this manually.: try the UNO on another PC. (to confirm that card and cable is OK)

In most cases win7 finds hardware and install correct drivers..

My PC doesn't detect the hardware, that's the problem.
I tried it also on my laptop with Win7 and it's the same.

Try a different, known to work, USB cable.

If that does not solve the problem, send the board back to the vendor so they can exchange it.

Ok, thank you, cable was broken, I bought a new one and everything works properly - problem solved;)
