Arduino Uno R4 Minima immediately gets super hot

Nothing else is connected to this Arduino. No wires.

I see the device properly selected in the IDE. The last sketch that was uploaded to this Arduino was a simple button test.

I tried connecting it to USB-C and uploading a Sketch, but get the "No DFU capable device available... exit status 74" message.

I tried connecting it just to 5v power and putting it into "Bootloader mode", but never get a blinking orange LED.

I'm afraid to leave it plugged into USB-C or 5v power for too long for fear of burning it up. I've read related posts to no avail, and can't get this thing to a state where I can upload to it.

Is it just broken somehow or can I recover it? Apologies for the beginner question and thank you for any direction.

Well, I assume you have a PC connected to it?

If its a windows PC I'd suggest you get this software that will show you everything that is connected to a USB port.

Also you need a simple multimeter to check voltages.

How did you do that? What supplied the "5V"? How did you connect it to the arduino?

Hello @artdoweknow,

Did you power the 5V through the USB cable or an external power source?

Does the problem persist? If it does, you can contact support through this form for deep troubleshooting.

Thank you!
