Hi I've just made a mini CNC Milling machine and am enquiring for advice on whether I have the correct hardware for the job.
I'm using a
Compatible with Arduino UNO R3 ATMEGA328 - CH340G USB Rev3 control board in parallel with
Arduino CNC Shield V3 A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Expansion Board UNO 3D Printer and
3 off Arduino CNC Shield V3 A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Boards to drive
3 off Nema 17 Stepper Motor 44Ncm 1.7A 4-Wire with 3pcs Cables for 3D Printer.
If this is incorrect hardware for my CNC M/c can you please advise.
Kind Regards
Chris
@seedypea0126 Installation and Troubleshooting is for Problems with the Arduino itself NOT your project. It says so in the description of the section. Therefore I have moved your post here. Please be more careful where you post in future.
You may want to read this before you proceed:-
how to get the best out of this forum
The A4988 stepper drivers are only good for about 1A coil current without heat sinks and active cooling (fan), 2A with heat sink and fan. The DRV8825 drivers are good for 1.5A without heat sinks and 2.2A with heat sink and fan. I would recommend the DRV8825 drivers (with heat sinks) for those 1.7A steppers unless you plan on adding active cooling and heat sinks.
Are you aware that it is critical to properly adjust the coil current limit on the drivers before using them.
Hi
Thanks for your advice, I will make sure that I do this.
Kind Regards
Christ
