Arduino Uno web server control

I am currently busy with a project to control devices via a web page with the use of an Arduino Uno and its ethernet shield.

I am looking for some ideas and guidance on what I can actually control or monitor via the web page.

Currently I intend on controlling a lamp and an AC fan via some relays. I will also monitor the surrounding temperature with a temperature sensor and display it on my web page. I do however need to do more and hoping some ideas can be provided by someone who's done this before as this is quite new to me.

Thanks.

I have not tried this tutorial myself but I have seen comments rating it highly;

Thanks will have a look at that.

Basically my project is a home automation server. But to prove the success of it I need to control a few devices or monitor something.

So far I'm planning to do the above mentioned.

If you search for Home Automation you will get hundreds of project ideas; watering plants, controlling fish tanks, feeding animals, opening closing blinds etc.
If you are getting marked on this check if there are any points for security.
