Until you add sensors or other circuitry you won't need to know about the Arduino pins to get your motor shield running the motors. You'll most likely be able to find your specific motor shield at this site http://shieldlist.org/ which will explain which wires go where.
I thought there was something in the Playground here, but the link is broken currently.
