Arduino used in high school / K-12?

Hi, are there any examples out there of arduino being used in high schools (or middle schools)?

I know there are college courses using it:

I'm really interested in courses that teach standard topics (physics, circuits, etc.) and use the arduino.

Anyway I'm applying for a tiny amount of funding and wanted to try out the arduino in a pre-engineering high school class and a regular physics class. I was looking at perhaps using the boarduino or bare bones board since they are cheaper and can fit onto a bread board for solderless projects. The first class can handle soldering, but the physics class is in a rural area where they don't offer pre-engineering, and exposing kids to soldering probably wouldn't be approved.

Thanks

The robotics class at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Virgina, USA) is using the Freeduino USB kit. I can ask the teacher how the board is being used. I highly recommend going with a board that has the "standard" Arduino format, because it is much easier to expand it with shields. You can go with the Freeduino USB kit ($23.99 list price) or the new MAX232 based Freeduino serial board (aprox $17.99 list price). We offer special discount for academic institutions. The kits are excellent to teach the students soldering and electronics assembling skills, in addition to learning Arduino once the boards are assembled.
