Arduino, Wav Shield, Hall Sensor & magnets - Need help (Newbie)

Hi everyone and thanks for listening

I took on a small arduino project as a newbie for a Burning Man Project, My Job is to program a ardiuno to make sound come from a wheel with magnets on it that activate a hall sensor to make a sound everytime a magnet crosses the sensor using a wav shield. Much like the price is right wheel only a little more ghetto rigged.

Wheel spins → magnets move on wheel → Cross Hall sensor → arduino input from hall sensor → output to wav shield → wav shield plays sound byte.

My buddy and I are concerned about latency but yea i need help please.

I have little to no knowledge on how to program the wav shield as my knowledge has been in LEDs with the arduino. doing simple strobe and patterns nothing too special as i am the only one in or area with arduino knowledge i figured i pick up the challenge.

Here are all of our parts

Thank you so much arduino forums

My name is Atlas and i love you

The "Useful Links" tab on the wave shield page really needs another link: http://www.ladyada.net/make/waveshield/index.html

That link has an Arduino library with sample code that makes using the wave shield pretty easy.

Even the link that is on the page contains some sample code that plays each file in turn. Your code will be simpler in that it will only be playing one wave file.

Cool thank you, i was looking for something like this, whee not i just need to put the read sensor info into the code and it should be cake yea ?

whee not i just need to put the read sensor info into the code and it should be cake yea ?

If you say so... Whatever it was you said.

Ok ill reiterate: when i figure out what the arduino reads from the hall sensor (input), then i put that information into the playback code (output) just have to figure out odds and end to make it work correct?

sorry i forgot im not talking to teenage girls and should use proper spelling and grammar.

Thanks for the help
