Arduino Wireless

Hi,

I’m making a project. I will create a new arduino shield for RC planes. Now, I’m looking for a module or a way to connect arduino to pc by wireless. I need about 1 - 2 miles range.

I looked for Xbee. And maybe, XBee Pro 900 RPSM can be a good choice. But, i think is better create my own wifi module. Do you know how? Do you have the circuit? A demo?

In the case that it’s really complicated, are there a large range alternative to xbee?

But remember, I need send and receive data on the pc and in the arduino.

In the case that it's really complicated

Yes it is.

are there a large range alternative to xbee?

Thank you, maybe the question i will ask will be stupid. Are there any module like XBee to a really large distance?? about 200 miles? I need this distance to have real time telemetry to a space balloon?

Space isn't that far away.

You are best getting into ham radio and using a transmitter with a bit more power. Line of sight communications doesn't require that much power anyway. See this:- http://www.sstl.co.uk/Products/Subsystems/Communication/Receivers/Transmitter/S-Band-Transmitter
