Today, looking at the tutorials in arduino i got lost and ended up learning a bit of Processing (have been drawing all sorts of things!) now from there I stumbled on Wiring. It looks similar to arduino, so whats the difference? and the forum at wiring looks kind of deserted... something wrong? should i go ahead and learn wiring as well? (looks similar to arduino...) somebody please demystify this to me :-/
Wiring is a bigger board with more inputs and outputs but more expensive. The Arduino hits the sweet spot of price / capability. Both environments are very similar, learn one you learn the other.
The wiring hardware isn't open source, is it? I don't even see printable schematics, much less downloadable CAD files with Creative Commons license statements on them.
(It's a bit sad, cause the wiring hardware is an obvious "super arduino" hardware similar to Sanguino...)
Is Sanguino open source?
Yes and it has patches so it will program with the arduino IDE.
