Arduino with ATMega1284p?

How have recently found out that ATMega1284p is actually 40 DIP, and I think it is a good diea to make a even beefier Sanguino using this thing.... In fact, using this would be even better than Wiring, as it will have a whooping 16K internal SRAM!

Have anyone try to use this? If not, can someone teach me how to?

Is the ATMega1284p in DIP form factor available to sample/purchase from anywhere yet?

Sample: No idea.
Purchase: Must be bought bulk from Digikey as of now: at quantity of 290 chips (;_:wink: However if we get it working, it's sayonara Wiring.
