arduino with motor: project

m
"The project description is as follows:contestants will design and build a mechanical or electro mechanical device that will transport an egg a distance of 8-12 meters along a straight track as fast as possible and stop as close as possible to the center point of a barrier. The intent is to end up the run at the center of the straight lane. The distance traveled will be announced at the beginning of the event. The device must be a single unit, meaning all parts, even the mass, must travel down the length of the course. All tools and decides to prepare the device for launch may be left behind including electronic and other aligning devices.

The device must fit inside a .75 m cube."

What are the four motors like? Can you post a photo or find a similar motor online and provide a link?

Is the idea to make a wheeled vehicle?

Sounds like fun - better than typical egg drop off the 3rd floor.
No transistors or motor drivers tho? Will be hard to control motors with just Arduino outputs, current needed for the motors will burn out the IO pins.

.75m = 75cm x 75cm x 75cm?
Seems plenty big enough for battery pack, 2 or 4 motors, egg cradle, arduino, and motor driver card.

@ barahcudda, I think you must first develop a concept for your device - in broad terms, how you plan to make it happen with the parts at your disposal.

That is the most important part of your project development and I don't think it would be appropriate for us to do that for you.

If you need assistance with specific issues we will try to help.

You need a motor driver (h-bridge) for DC motors. You can drive a stepper motor with two h-bridges but a specialized stepper motor driver makes life easier. You CANNOT drive any sort of motor directly from an Arduino.
