Arduino with Wifi to control water heater on/off

I'm new to the Arduino world but I am really interested in learning how to do things with it. We live out in the country and just got fiber internet. So, I'm interested in being able to turn our water heater on and off via wifi and Arduino. I have purchased a SSR-60DA Solid State Relay Single Phase Semi-Conductor Relay Input 3-32V DC Output 24-380V AC. Now I need to hook up the Arduino wifi and program it so I can log in and switch the heater on or off. I have been watching tutorials but I just don't know where to start. What Arduino to buy with wifi. How to program the simple switch (not so simple to me). If the program fails, I'd like it to fail with circuit closed so the heater still works.
Thanks

Split the project into small parts. Managing the Wifi is one. Managing the SSR is simple. A high level output from the controller will set the SSR in the On state.
What possibilities do You have to power the build?
Installing a hard wired thermostate that will cut off power in case if overtemperature could be wise.

Thanks. I have power both 220V and 110V in the utility room. What wifi Arduino do you recommend? How do I interface with it? I'm really new. I can wire the relay and the Arduino to the input terminals no problem. Now what?

Not possible with a SSR. Use a commercial relay designed for what you need and wire it so the Arduino code OPENS the circuit, rather then closing the circuit as your current design does.

If you stay with the SSR, you MUST mount the relay on a heat sink of some type as it will get quite hot. That is why that style of SSR has an aluminum back plate!

Good that power is availble.
I suggest You add some playing with a controller, using simple setups. The IDE contains example code for several different tasks.
Go for a controller having built in Wifi, analog input for a temperature sensor and digital output for the SSR.

Communication is never easy, several ways to face difficulties. It has been done many, many times and there are plenty of tutorials to look at.
Please post a pen and paper drawing of the build You have in mind. Pin labels, powering shown.

Paul- thanks. What commercial relay are you recommending? Do you have a recommendation for the Arduino with wifi to purchase?

Nope. Look for a relay that is rated for a long life turned on, if there is such a rating. Mainly will be temperature of the coil. You could use a 120 volt relay controlled by your SSR which is controlled by the Arduino. The 120 volt relay could be energized for days in order to keep the heater powered.
