Yes, I'm sure I'm connected to the right port. Putty connects only to live COM ports. I can send commands to the 32u4 and see the printouts according to the sketch for the 32u4 side. I also see rx (orange) led blink every time I press a key on my keyboard.
The usb led lights up only for a moment with a weak white. Afterwards it stays off.
