arduino Zero & "Wifi shield 101" combined and shrinked ...

if you combine an Arduino Zero with the upcoming "Wifi shield 101" you will be enabled to do some powerful wireless applications, I think...
(IoT... whoooooo ...)

Atmel sells this combination now in a miniaturized format [footprint: 33.9 x 14.9mm] with integrated PCB-antenna (see pic in attachment):
(--> http://www.atmel.com/devices/ATSAMW25.aspx)

an evaluation Board is available as well:

(on the digikey pages you find links to datasheets and so on)

--> http://www.atmel.com/Images/Atmel-42436-SAMW25-MR210PA-HW-Design-Guidelines_UserGuide.pdf

(Mouser got it as well --> http://www2.mouser.com/Atmel/WiFi-80211-Modules/ATSAMW25-Series/_/N-1z0zlfhZ6l7qaZ1yqkc45)

they are quite expensive, but i think the combination is quite cool:
you get a cortex-M0+ (SAMD21G18A 256kB) with an Atmel ATWINC1500 WiFi controller...

what do you think ?

I think a better deal than Zero and WiFi shield. The WiFi shield 101 was supposed to be released June 25, as was the Yun shield. What's up with that?
A Zero is $50, and the current wifi shield is GONE! Where did it go?

Isaac96:
I think a better deal than Zero and WiFi shield.

I think you can not compare this directly.
How do you connect "things" to the "ATSAMW25" ?
It is simply not possible without some kind of "mainboard", cause the "ATSAMW25" is a SMC mountable device only (intended for reflow soldering).
You can even not use it on a breadboard ...

The eval board has headers on it connected to the SAMD21.

Hello?? Hello?? ...is there any Wifi Shield 101 here??

yesterday Massimo announced it (again) --> massimo banzi on Instagram: "This baby is now available for the iot enthusiasts #arduino #wifi101"
... :o

and what the f... is https://cloud.arduino.cc ? :smiley:

now it's on sale
--> Arduino WiFi Shield 101 is now available in the US store! | Arduino Blog

but they did the same mistake as with the zero again:
it's not available for non U.S. buyers
(unbelievable :slightly_frowning_face: )

now Arduino announces just the same (but with pin headers & Li-Po charging)
--> https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoMKR1000
(same as the ATSAMW25-MR210PB Board from Atmel)

adafruit got it already:

(almost exactly the same specs than Arduino MKR1000)
