ArduMoto shield

Hey all

I want to do a 4wd robot. I have 4 12volts dc motors which drains 1amps of stall current (max). I want to use ardumoto shields of sparkfun as far as i know it allows to 2 amps continues per channel. so it suits for my dc motors. Obviously im going to need 2 ArduMoto shields.

My question is; Can i place 2 shield together on the arduino board? What is the amount of curren of the shield could drain from arduino pins?

Another thing is if i do that i wont be able to control turns of the robot. Are there any solutions for 4wd systems? are there any shields for driving 4 dc motors?

Last question is what do you guys using to drive high amps dc motors?

I dont have the links of motors in english but they are 12v volts dc motors which can drain 60mAmps without load, 100mAmps on load and 1amps on stall.

here is the link of ardumoto shield

I have not used a shield. I have built my own board to control a 56 VDC motor with a stall current of 5 amps. See link at CNCzone:

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/open_source_controller_boards/114624-p_n_type_mosfet_servo_driver.html

The circuit could handle more current. The mosfet's do not get hot.

I have used Adafruit's motor shield Adafruit Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield for Arduino kit [v1.2] : ID 81 : $19.50 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits
with this 4 wheel platform http://www.yerobot.com/4wd-arduino-mobile-platform.html and it works great.
