Hi, I want to control a kind of small horizontal door with a battery-powered micro servo. Now I'm using the FeeTech FB5116M servo. https://www.feetechrc.com/steering-gear-with-feedback.html
To save battery energy, I want to power off the servo when it's opened, and power on only to move from opened to closed or closed to opened.
But when I switch off the servo power, the weight of the door moved the servo motor.
Are there any "currentless brake" servos that stay blocked when power is off ?
Thanks
One spontaneous suggestion is to used a spring pushing a brake block to stop motion, and a solenoid to release it before the servo is ordered motion.
Geared servos, if they exist, might be a solution.
Balancing the door could be another option.
Not quite, look for a servo with metal gears, they are very difficult to move by hand. In fact if you can move a servo by hand or an external load, you will probably damage it.
