hello! does someone here knows about AS7262 and how can I solve the short distance required to detect and we plan on using it underwater.

Never used, and based upon - Adafruit AS7262 6-Channel Visible Light / Color Sensor Breakout : ID 3779 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits
we plan on using it underwater.
Looks to me that the sensor is not waterproof by default.
how can I solve the short distance required
You might put a glass-fiber in its "eye" that transports the light from another place to the sensor This might also solve the need to go under water.
Curious for the results of your prototyping - as that is THE way to learn
