ASK! Nokia 5110 read Analog input

Hi, good afternoon, actually its 2PM at my place :slight_smile:
Im a beginner in arduino
I have some project that need to display analogread from UNO to Nokia 5110,

i use this example sketch from Arduino Playground - PCD8544
i know theres a lot of examples to show this analogread to Nokia 5110, but im just curious with this one, i realy curious about the sketch

i used the example sketch, the program is run well.
the example sketch is

#define PIN_SCE   7
#define PIN_RESET 6
#define PIN_DC    5
#define PIN_SDIN  4
#define PIN_SCLK  3

#define LCD_C     LOW
#define LCD_D     HIGH

#define LCD_X     84
#define LCD_Y     48

static const byte ASCII[][5] =

void LcdInitialise(void)

 pinMode(PIN_SDIN, OUTPUT);

void LcdWrite(byte dc, byte data)

 digitalWrite(PIN_SCE, HIGH);
}

void setup(void)
{
 LcdInitialise();
 LcdClear();
 LcdString("Hello World!");
}

void loop(void)
{
}

now i want to display analogread from A0, i've try to add some sketch with new void like this, but not work

void SensorRead (void)
{
  analogRead(Spin);
  nilaiS = analogRead(Spin);
}
void Sensor (void)
{
    if (analogRead(Spin))
    {
      while (analogRead(Spin))
      {
        valueSensor = analogRead(Spin);
        LcdWrite(LCD_D, valueSensor]);
      }
    }
}

and in void loop i write this sketch (in serial monitor arduino, the analogread is work)

void loop(void)
{
  SensorRead();
  Serial.println(nilaiS);
  LcdInitialise();
  LcdClear();
  LcdString("A0 = ");
  Sensor(); //call the void sensor
  delay(500);
}

the program is succes to upload, and run, but the result is wrong, it view random character, and when i give '1023' to A0 (5v) the result is all screen is black, full black. when i give 0 or less then 100 the screen is random char, not one of the ASPII list,
i think the problem is with the conversion, am i right ?
so how is the sketch to convert analogread to ascii ?
i only want to use this sketch because it used ASCII, and im curious
i also want to know how to setCursor Nokia 5110 with this sketch ?
help me please sir :confused: :confused: :frowning:

nb : sorry for bad english.

Hi.

You need to study the basics of the C language. It's clear from the code you have written that you do not understand many of the basic concepts, such as the meaning of "void", when to use if(), while() and so on.

Paul

hi paul!
thanks paul for your reply
thats what im doing :slight_smile:

That is the bit that counts. The LCD code is archaic junk. Get the Philips PCD8544 library, or the RinkyDink one, and use the hello world example. That way, you simply lcd.pring the same variable as you currently Serial.print.
