I considered putting this request in the motors, mechanics, and power section but my question is more basic for now.
I'm an old farmer and I do not know anything at all about electronics. But I'm trying to learn. My goal is to design and build an automatic livestock gate operator. I have done some studying and some experimenting with my new Arduino Uno and I have successfully completed the first 4 instructional lessons. I can blink all sorts of LEDs and change the timing to my heart's content.
My request:
I would like to know if there is someone out there who would assist me in my quest to have an Arduino livestock gate controller. Since my workload here at the farm is heavy at times and I'm a complete moron at this electronics stuff it may try your patience a bit. Anybody up for it?
Here's my plan . . . (I already have the gate actuator design and have a proto built - now I need to control it)
- Everything must be 12 VDC. I will have solar power at installation locations.
- I need to initiate gate movement by either timing or by amount of sunlight.
- Gate travel controlled by timing only to eliminate the need for switches on the gate.
Thanks,
Larry
