AT commands NOT working in Arduino IDE. Please HELP!!

I’m having trouble getting the AT commands to work with the ESP8266 WiFi module.

I tried connecting the ESP8266 WiFi module with the Arduino Uno as follows:

UNO — ESP8266
RX ----- RX
TX ----- TX
GND — GND
3.3V — VCC
3.3V — CH_PD

I uploaded the BareMinimum sketch on the Arduino. After the connection, I opened the Serial Monitor and entered the ‘AT’ command but nothing shows on the screen. I tried every baud rate but nothing works. I even tried connecting ESP’s TX and RX with Arduino’s RX and TX respectively but that too didn’t work.

What am I doing wrong?

Switch rx and tx. Rx should go to tx and tx goes to rx.

The pinout is correct. The problem was that my ESP wasn't receiving enough current. I powered it by a SMPS and the AT commands are working now.
