those of you in the atlanta, ga area interested in sharing ideas/projects/whatever should speak up!... an interest group is in its budding state and you don't want to miss out!...
whether you're a programmer (like me) looking to get some exposure to the uC or any other interest area, be sure to have a voice in the forthcoming advocacy group for arduino!
hey guys, i know of at least one other user - simond - that was interested, but i haven't heard from him in a while... we're in the beginning stages of founding an interest group right now, so whatever input you have will help...
i'm in smyrna, at 285/75 - paces ferry...
i was thinking a great name would be:
Atlanta Area Association for Arduino Advocates of America
ha, i work in norcross... sounds like we're travelling against each other... i've been working with microsoft technologies for a few years, mainly c#, like you... i'm not seasoned at all with uC... in fact, i'm happy just to get a light to blink...
Hey all! Good to see some more traffic on this topic.
As idover hinted, I'm also interested in starting up a meeting group. Currently looking for lab/ workshop space, but initially we could just meet at a coffee shop or similar.
I'm based in Woodstock but work over on the west side.
So what times/ days are best for everyone to meet?
i live in the vinings/smyrna area and work in norcross (peachtree pkwy/engineering dr)... i can meetup pretty much anytime, as my schedule is flexible... i would suggest a simple meetup at a coffee shop or similar just to get to know each other a little and then decide how to proceed from there...
Hi I am just starting with Arduino but if there is a group getting together in Atlanta I would be very interested in checking it out. I am south of the city (near East Point) but don't mind driving. Has anything come of this discussion?
hi john - it seems there's definitely interest, but not a lot of activity right now... i suspect that most people are as busy or busier than i am, and an advocacy group may not be the first priority... i still suggest a simple howdydo at a coffee shop or waffle house first, and then run from there... i've no kids and a wife that doesn't like me :), so i'm pretty flexible...

The only way may be to pick a place and time and hope for the best. I'm reasonably free on evenings and weekends if I know it's coming. When the weekend gets close the schedule fills up quick.
I'm in Fairburn (SW ATL). I'd definitely be interested in a workshop. I'm a Java developer for a small company.
quadmasta,
We are planning to have a monthly meeting when possible. I think it was determined to be the last Saturday of the month. The location will most likely move each month for a while until we settle down to a good location. I am from SW Atlanta as well so I am pulling for somewhere from Midtown to Smyrna so it is centrally located.
If you get a chance take a look at the web page http://groups.google.com/group/atlantaarduino. It was just started but we do intend to use it send out announcement of meeting to come as well as develop some resources for electronics in Atlanta
We are going to have our second meeting of the AtlantaArduino Advocates group this weekend!! It is usually a pretty casual affair where we try to show what we have been working on recently and exchange notes on projects. Feel free to bring a project or just stop by and see if you are interested.
Third meeting of Atlanta Arduino on 6/28! The meetings have been great so far, and I know that I've learned a lot from the other members. See details here:
