atmega2560 clone?

Hi all,

Ive made clones with atmega 328s, but i need more pins. I understand charlieplexing is an option, but i would like more indivial pins. There are too many tiny connections on the atmega2560 that i just dont see my self soldering them by hand---too small.

any ideas?

Get a part in the DIP package instead?
Build up a little boare like I show (the top part), attach to the top of the DIP package, connect the 11 pads shown to the 11 pins beneath them. Voila - your very own version of 644/1284 ardweeny clone.
