First off, I am not a computer programmer. In fact I know almost nothing about programming, played a very little with JAVA, and am now in way over my head. I bought a Geeetech Prusa i3 X 3D printer DIY kit which comes with a GT2560+, http://www.geeetech.com/wiki/index.php/GT2560. I have followed the instal instructions to a T but upon attempting to use said printer the LCD display showed two rows of rectangles. So, here I am trying to figure out why and what needs to be done. I am using Arduino 1.0.1 because that is what Geeetech recomends for their board. I have read through the troubleshooting thread and tried what seemed applicable but have not had any success. I even unplugged everything, "(apart from the USB cable, of course)" but that has changed nothing. When the USB cable is plugged in the green LED comes on and when the power source is plugged in and turned on two more green LEDs light up and the two fans that are connected turn on as well. So, I know the board functions at least that much. Please help.

I have installed the Arduino software, the legacy Java, and drivers.
I can find the Arduino in the port selection
When I try to verify sketch I get this error:
core.a(main.cpp.o): In function `main':
/Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/arduino/cores/arduino/main.cpp:5: undefined reference to `setup'
/Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/arduino/cores/arduino/main.cpp:15: undefined reference to `loop'
I have not contacted Geeetech yet. To say their grasp of the English language is lacking is a considerable understatement. Also, I will eventually need to learn how the Arduino platform works so I thought this would be a better place to start.
Thank-you spycatcher2k for taking time to reply. At your suggestion I went ahead and contacted Geeetech. The Technician assigned to help me understands English far better than does the Post-Sale Rep who was assigned to help me concerning a previous problem.
Apparently the Crystal Oscillator is the source of the issue at hand.
I could share the link the Tech sent me concerning the details of the problem and how to fix it but it is a link to a different forum and I don't know if that is frowned upon here or not. Mods?
P.S. I was very specific in describing my issue and my hardware yet I only received one response. Any ideas as to why?
3D printers are kind of a specific thing, and perhaps not used with Macs. I also have a Prusa i3 X 3D printer, but it has a combo card with 2560 and motor drivers, and I run Win7. It downloads ok (saved the original download and put some Marlin software on it), we think the motor wiring may be incorrect tho, doesn't seem to go to correct locations.
I personally didn't have anything to add to spycatcher's suggestion of asking the manufacturer.

I may be facing something very similar. Might you send me the link please?
