ATMega32 with arduino code?

So i been playing with arduino for a while, and im getting into robotics and automated system.. and i have few questions:

On the regular arduino i can just remove the 328p, and put it direclty to the board, add a 16 Mhz crystal and a voltage regulator.. and it will work with out the board correct??

also i have an STK500 programmer board, can i use arduino code to program an ATMega32 40pin chip? thanks

yes just google arduino stand alone.
