I've also received these, for other Atmel MCUs. Thoughts? I'm not current on bonding technology.
Thoughts? I can't change what they use one way or the other, so I'm not going to worry about it.

This has been going on for 15 years to one degree or another:
The bonding wires seem to be the last big step in the migration. My guess is that for consumer parts there is simply no big issue other than we consumers may see costs stabilize somewhat (but not go down) but I suspect if there is any concerns is will be reflected in the MilSpec arena and I do not know if Atmel is all that big in the 8-bit world although the do have solutions specifically in the military marketplace:
